Julia Trevelyan Oman: Designing La Bohème

Royal Opera House, Summer 2015

Julia Trevelyan Oman’s designs for La bohème at the Royal Opera House have been immersing audiences in a vision of 19th century Paris for forty-one years. This exhibition of Julia’s research and artworks showcases her working process and highlights details of the design. It has been curated from documents held within the Julia Trevelyan Oman Archive, which was given to the University of Bristol Theatre Collection by Sir Roy Strong following her death in 2003.

Special thanks to Sir Roy Strong. Generous philanthropic support from Alfiya and Timur Kuanyshev, Marina Hobson OBE and The Royal Opera House Endowment Fund. Original Production (1974) supported by The Linbury Trust.
